About Melisa Cane-Franzetti

Woman, Traveler, Friend, Daughter, Sister, Therapist, Seeker, Educator

Melisa’s journey in Aotearoa started 10 years ago as a “Why not?” scenario. She grew up in Rosario, Argentina where she showed curiosity for other cultures, human interactions, and traveling from a very young age. She has been shaped by the places that she’s been and the people that she has met but she still keeps her cheeky South American sense of humor.  A self-proclaimed “Authentic Chameleon”, Melisa recognises that one of the best things she took from her nomadic lifestyle is the power of adaptation and she uses it to create  deeper connection with her clients and to make people feel comfortable no matter what walk of life they came from. She spent many years traveling around the world and getting involved with local communities, environmental projects, wildlife protection, and teaching. Melisa has volunteered over the years with a number of organisations including the Whaingaroa Environment Center in Raglan where she would participate in facilitating Maui Dolphin Day and help the town become Plastic Bag Free.

Melisa has a never-ending curiosity for the human mind and for understanding how human relationships work. She is constantly working on professional development, taking courses and workshops, researching, and keeping up to date with new findings and trends. Her responsibility towards her clients is to keep getting her basket full of knowledge. Melisa has been practicing mindfulness and meditation for years. In the quest to challenge herself she has attended a 10 day silent meditation (Vipassana) to learn how to better observe her thoughts and be at peace with herself. Melisa’s interest for Sex and Relationship Therapy came from growing up with a Sex-positive message. She is passionate about empowering humans to live a meaningful, happy, healthy, truthful and wholesome (sex) life.

When she is not working you can find her road-tripping, surfing, going to yoga classes, socialising with her multiple groups of friends, op-shopping, learning something new, cooking, reading, visiting art galleries, or staying in touch with family and friends overseas.

Melisa’s core values are empathy, honesty, transparency, open-mindedness, freedom, joy, emotional responsibility, acceptance, independence, social justice, and wildlife welfare.

“Simplicity, patience, compassion.
These three are your greatest treasures.
Simple in actions and thoughts, you return to the source of being.
Patient with both friends and enemies,
you accord with the way things are.
Compassionate toward yourself,
you reconcile all beings in the world.” Lao Tzu.
